Open Door will gladly accept donations of food to serve at the drop-in-centre such as cereal, biscuits, tea and coffee. Non-perishable food such as tins, rice and pasta will also be gladly accepted.

Our volunteers work as part of a small team, and their help is critical to the work of the Open Door. Volunteers help welcome people, make tea and coffee and spend a lot of time listening to people.

All of our volunteers are active members of various Christian communities throughout Colchester and surrounding areas. All volunteers must undergo a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service, formerly CRB) check and will receive on-going supervision and training.

Are you…

  • A good listener?
  • Someone with a heart for the marginalised?
  • Interested in volunteering at Open Door?
  • Able to help on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday?

If yes, then why not volunteer at Open Door? Please see below for details of how to apply.
