Open Door is a drop-in centre in the heart of Colchester that offers a warm welcome, listening ear and practical support for anyone who needs it. For over 30 years Open Door has been a lifeline for many homeless and vulnerable people. Many hundreds of people have been helped, supported and listened to.
Social isolation, loneliness, mental illness and homelessness are all on the rise and we believe that Open Door can be part of the solution. We want Open Door to be here for many years to come so that we can continue to support vulnerable people. We are also excited about the opportunities we have through our Tuesday@Twelve and Sunday@One ministries to share our Christian hope and allow our guests to express their faith in a meaningful way.
“Those that attend are able to receive support or advice from the volunteers that help run the group, or equally importantly just have someone to talk to over a cup of tea who will listen to them in a non-judgemental way. It is very clear that there is a very strong bond between them all and an equally strong support network, which has been strengthened even more by their Christian faith.”

As we plan for our future, we are launching an appeal for financial supporters. For just £5 per month you can become one of the supporters enabling this vital work to continue. You will be making it possible for people to have somewhere to turn in their moments of crisis, to have someone to listen when things aren’t working out and a loving community when home isn’t all it should be.
For all our valued supporters we will provide regular updates on the work so you know that your support is being put to good use. This will include stories, news, prayer requests and invitations to any events.
